About

Hi,

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Youssef Shady and I am Egyptian born in upper Egypt in 1983. I graduated form Assuit University Egypt in 2005 majoring in Computer Science, where I found out what I want to do in life and my passion for games grew from playing to making them or at least try my best to.

In my undergraduate years I was always experimenting with new stuff other than the courses we’ve been taught I particularly liked to interface between languages and to benefit from each programming language strengths, so I did projects like Tic-Tac-Toe using Prolog as the AI engine and a Java applet for the graphical interface and in my graduation project I did the interface between Matlab and C++ for image enhancements and Visual Basic for GUI.

After graduation I felt empty and even after I started my job as a VOIP software developer this feeling grew stronger, so I started taking tests and applying for MSc degrees in a few universities until I got accepted at the University of Hull – UK to study for a MSc in Games Programming which was like a dream coming true; Then I left my first job in 2006 to start another one as a software engineer in a multinational company in Egypt where I can get more money and time to prepare for my degree.

At the time of writing these words I am close to finishing my degree which was very instructive and life changing, I am looking forward to starting my dissertation project for the last semester which will be about machine learning in Games where I could learn more and hopefully participate with something in my favorite research topic which is AI in games.

I would like to consider myself an eternal student and my plan after the masters degree is to pursue a Phd in the AI field or start a research position in an institute with machine learning related ongoing research, only time will show whether I’ll be able to do it or not.

I will try as much as I can to keep this portfolio updated and for any comments or questions please feel free to leave a reply below or email me directly.
